Now that we’re officially free from the cold of winter, it’s time to start thinking about summer skin. When the days are brighter and the nights are lighter, we all like to shake up our beauty routines a little. Gone are the days where full coverage and heavy foundations were needed to cover up our dry and dull winter skin. With the warmer weather, there’s nothing better than sporting a dewy glow. If your mind is still in winter mode, it’s time to make a change. Now that those empties are gone replace your winter favorites with summer staples and enjoy a fresher look.
Start With Skincare
First, to get that dewy appearance just right, you have to start with your skin. During the colder months, our skin can get dry and flakey and lose its natural glow. So, you’re going to need to dust off those dead skin cells and let a little radiance shine through. Make sure you’re using and exfoliating step in your skincare routine at least once and week. You also need to ensure your moisturizer is right for your skin type to give you a good base.
Prep & Prime
Now that you’re skin is cleaner and clearer, you’re going to want to work on building up that base just right. First up, primer. Preparing your face for foundation is crucial. When you use a primer, not only are you smoothing out your skin to help your foundation look flawless, you’re also ensuring it stays in place for longer. Whether you go for a cream or a powder, look for a priming product that suits both your skin type and your budget.
Light & Radiant
Now that you’re ready for foundation, you’re going to need to make sure you’re using the right kind. To get that glow, you want to stay away from full coverage foundations – even if they’re your safety blanket. Instead, you need to go for something a lot lighter. You often find, the lighter the foundation, the brighter your complexion will look. This is because you’re blurring imperfections but not covering up the natural radiance of your skin. You can also find light-reflecting foundations that add a little extra dewiness for you.
Add A Little Bronze
When you’ve got your base just right, you want to start building up that glow before you set it off. Bronzer is a great way to add a sun-kissed look to the skin. Add a little to your cheek bones and finish off with a pop of highlighter for that ‘just back from the beach’ kind of look. If you’re relatively fair, you might want to switch the bronzer for a pinkish blush to complement your complexion more. Then, when the color is just right, you’re going to need to set the entire face look in place with something like RCMA no color powder.
Finish With The Lips
Your complexion is pretty much done, and while you’re free to style your eyes in a way that suits you, you’re going to want to make sure that your lets set off the look just right. Opting for a gloss here, especially if it’s clear, is always the best way to finish a dewy look and look ultra natural.
